Kalispell, MT 59903
Dear Al,
As you requested, the following is a summary of capital improvements to Buffalo Hill Golf Course
proposed by the Kalispell Golf Association. I appreciate your cooperation and effort in presenting this to
the City Council for approval. My understanding is that formal action will occur at the 8-5-96 council
meeting.
Project 1: "Dewatering System"
Design and construct a ground/surface de -watering system for all areas of the Buffalo Hill Golf Course
impacted by high flows of the Stillwater River. Specifically, holes number 5, 6, 7, 13, 14, 15 and 16 on
the Championship 18 golf course. This de -watering system involves the installation of 6-10 de -watering
wells which takes the excess surface and ground water back out to the Stillwater River.
Six test wells were drilled in 1991 by Spratt and Associates Hydrology Consulting of Kalispell which
determined the need for a pumping system that could pump approximately 6,000,000 gallons of water per
day. A copy of the hydrology report is available at the KGA main office if further information is
requested.
The estimated cost of this project is $125,000 which includes design, engineering and construction
of the de -watering system. A September 1996 construction date is planned.
Project 2: "Greens and Tees Construction"
Buffalo Hill Golf Course is in immediate need of general greens and tees rebuilding. This plan calls for
rebuilding all 27 greens and approximately 20 of the 27 tee boxes. The estimated cost of this program
is $875,000. This project is scheduled to begin as soon as bank financing can be secured. Final plans
and design work has not been approved, however, the estimate of $875,000 is considered reasonable
for the type of work proposed.
If you need additional information Al, please feel free to give me a call. Thank you once again for your
efforts in getting this item on tonight's work session agenda.
Sincerely,
7
