Box 1997 Kalispell, Montana 59901 Dear Mr. Wilson, We are providing this letter upon your request for a pedestrian study along 44rat Street, from Fifth Avenue to First Avenue. The intent of this study will be to evaluate existing pedestrian circulation conditions and provide recommendations for improvements. This could include improved pedestrian control and timing at the First Avenue intersection or an additional pedestrian crossing alternative within the project limits. In order to establish baseline conditions, pedestrian and vehicular counts will need to be completed at key locations during peak periods. Also, existing street geometrics, traffic signal operations and pedestrian facilities must be identified. This information will provide the basis for our review. It is anticipated that our evaluation will additionally consider Warrant 3, Minimal Pedestrian Volume, or other criteria as outlined in The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) for installation of an additional traffic signal within the study area to enhance pedestrian circulation. A report will be prepared documenting our findings, improvement recommendations and associated costs. The report will provide guidance for future improvements only and is not anticipated to provide design level detail. To accomplish this evaluation we propose the following engineering fees: TASK FEE • Project Coordination $ 550 ° Data Collection $ 2,100 ° Evaluation $ 1,750 ° Report Preparation $ 1,300 ° Meetings and Review 65 TOTAL $ 6,350 As noted, the largest task involves data collection efforts identified in documenting existing conditions. The budget for this item may be adjusted depending upon the level of data already available, or if City resources are utilized in collecting this information. Pertinent information may include as -built plans, traffic counts, etc. n A G Ll 7 F n r' ., t,. r" n f G o r n , .. - . t n n G t T MORRISON / 4 MAIERLE, INC. Mr. John Wilson, P.E.
