ENGLNEERING
ENGINEERING PROJECTS CURRENTLY BEING DESIGNED OR COORDINATED BY CITY STAFF.
-East Meridian Road Intersection with U.S. 93 Design approved by MDOH.
-Monitored flooding of lowlands along Ashley Creek.
-14th Street East Storm Drain, Roadway & Utility Project out to bid.
-First Avenue East Storm Drain Project Design completed.
-Processed April GPS data (utility locations) to input into GIS mapping.
-Updated GIS benchmark list.
OFFICE AND STAFF
-Preparation for implementation of the Hansen Software continues.
-Recording downtown roof drain disconnections.
-Filing of Greenbriar Annexation documents ongoing.
-Created informational booklet & brochures for the Public Works Department.
OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE
CENTRAL GARAGE
-113 repair orders were completed during the month of May

-Removed snow tires from all City vehicles.
WATER PUMPING STORAGE DISTRIBUTION
-Produced 59.5 M gallons of water. 11.0 M gallons upper zone and 48.5 M gallons lower zone.
-No chlorine was injected as spring water was not used.
SEWER FACILITIES LIFT STATIONS COLLECTION
-Weekly maintenance of fifteen lift stations and video and jet cleaning of sewer lines continue.
-Repaired caved in sewer main line at 6th Alley 'AN and California.
-Installed new pump seals at Lift Station 98.
SOLID WASTE COLLECTIONIDISPOSAL&ALLEY CLEANUP.
-Responded to 36 reported violations - delivered 14 containers - repaired 25 damaged containers.
CONSTRUCTIONAND MAINTENANCE
STREETS CURBS GUTTERS ALLEYS
-General sweeping and alley grading ongoing.
-Prepared 20 alleys for paving in tax increment district.
-Cracked sealed streets for chip seal and overlay project.
-Started on reconstruction for street overlay paving.
-Patched Grandview Drive - 17 tons of hot mix.
-Hauled dirt for Parks Dept. and assisted Sewer Dept. with sewer repair of 6th Alley NW.
-Milled gutters to help drainage.
-Grounded raised sidewalks.
WATER CONSTR UCTION AND SYSTEM REPAIR
-Tagged 32 delinquent accounts.
-Repaired 3 fire hydrants, 2 service lines, and one 8" water main break.
-Replaced 5 curb boxes and rods, and installed 6 water taps.
SIGNALS SIGNS STRIPING SERVICES
-Maintenance of traffic signals, lights, signs, and meters continues.
-Wired cabinets for Opticom.
-Began street stripping of City streets with MDOT.
-Barricaded street for "March for Jesus" Parade.
WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT
-Rainfall for May 1996 has exceeded 4.5 inches. The Treatment Plant flows continue at record levels,
averaging 2.8 million gallons per day. Last year's flow was 1.8 million gallons per day. We are using
polymer at double our normal rate due to the extra flows.
-The Treatment Plant received two awards this month. The Flathead Basin Commission presented
the City with a "Commendation of Excellence for extraordinary efforts taken by the City, the
supervisor and staff of the Wastewater Treatment Plant to exceed standards established by the EPA.
The second award is being given by the U.S. EPA Region VIII first place for "Excellence in
Operation and Maintenance." Region VIII includes Colorado, Wyoming, North and South Dakota,
Utah, and Montana.
