The purposes of each interview are to: • gain background on City of Kalispell • learn about the operations of the Mayor and City Council and City Manager • identify and discuss goats, issues and opportunities • focus key topics for the Workshop During the interview, the questions are likely to explore the following information: 1. During the past year, what are the major successes for the City of Kalispell, and what were the key factors that contributed to each success? 2. What does "C= mean for the City of Kalispell? 3. What do the Mayor and City Council contribute to the community? 4. What are the key service priorities for the future? 5. As you talk with citizens, what are their messages to you about the issues and future direction of Kalispell? b. During the next year, what are the major issues that you feel need to be addressed by Kalispell? 7. If you were a wizard and could change three things within the Kalispell Community, what changes would you make? 8. What do you expect of the City Manager? 9. What promotes or inhibits teamwork of the Mayor and City Council? 10. What suggestions do you have for the City Manager to enhance his performance and to help the Mayor and City Council? 11. What other topics do you feel need to be addressed during the Workshop? Additional questions are likely to be added to this list based upon further discussion. Effective teams consist of people reflecting different styles. In preparation for the Workshop, each participant (Mayor and City Council and City Manager) will be asked to complete three instruments which focus on: 1. How problems are solved; how decisions are made 2. How conflicts are resolved; how they approach conflict 3. How each person operates as a leader A Leader Profile is prepared for each individual. A one -day Leadership and Goal Setting Workshop will be conducted for the Management Team. The purposes of this session are to: provide background on Community Based City Government and Goal Setting Process • review accomplishments for the past year • focus goals and direction for the City of Kalispell identify topics for Mayor and City Council Workshop The specific agenda will be developed and will be submitted to the Management Team.
