4. Ordinance 1236 - Changes Method of Electing Council PresidentORDINANCE NO. 1236
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING S 2-4, ORDINANCE NO. 1166, BY REQUIRING
ELECTIONS FOR PRESIDENT OF COUNCIL BE CONDUCTED VIVA VOCE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KALISPELL, AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. That S 2-4, Ordinance No. 1166 is hereby
amended to read as follows:
Section 2-4 President of the Council. a) At its first
meeting of each even numbered year, the Council shall
elect, viva voce, a president from its membership. In
the Mayor's absence from Council meetings the president
shall preside over the meeting. Whenever the Mayor is
unable to perform the functions of his office, the
president shall act as Mayor.
b) In the event the President of the Council resigns or
becomes ineligible to serve, the Council shall elect a
successor, viva voce, from its membership.
SECTION II. This Ordinance shall take effect from and after
thirty (30) days of its passage by the City Council.
