RE: Anderson - Woodland Park Recommendations
DATE: October 20 , 1995
Bruce,
I have had the opportunity to review the proposals
from Anderson Masonry Inc. It is my recommendation to
reject the initial proposal of selling off the major
portion of the North East corner of Woodland Park.
However, I feel we can come to a mutual agreement to sell
Anderson a portion of the property enabling him to complete
his desirable project while keeping the character an
integrity of the park intact.
Specifically, the desirable option would be to make
available to the Andersons the point of land that bisects
the two Anderson properties and borders Woodland Park
Drive. In addition, I would recommend that a portion of
the property, South and East of the park bench located on
the overlook be made available to the Andersons with the
intent that an easement or trade to keep intact the
uninterrupted safe access to Conrad Complex across Woodland
Park Drive.
I feel it is essential for the City to preserve,
promote developed park land, green belts and recreation
facilities. In this case, we have a unique opportunity to
enhance our North Eastern boundary of Woodland Park.
Keeping in mind, preserving of our access to Conrad
Complex, the overlook, and a vegetative buffer between the
park and Andersons. Although, number of details need to be
worked through the general concept has a win, win
possibility for both parties.
I am enclosing a site plan to orientate you to the
preferred option. If you have any further concerns, please
contact me.
