Permits were issued for four foundations; two will have a double wide placed on them and two will have a site built home. Permits were issued for two duplexes. Construction started on the remaining 16 unit apartments at Meridian Pointe. This building concludes the 64 unit Meridian Pointe Complexes. Permits were issued to begin construction at Glacier Bank on Center Street and Glacier Mercantile in Evergreen. Zoning The Board of Adjustment considered a request by Tom & Janet Weaver for a setback variance at 85 North Main Street. The Weavers are remodeling the former RAX Restaurant and plan to open a bank at that location within the next six months. The Board granted a variance which will allow construction of a canopy within the required 15 foot side corner setbacks. The canopy will cover the four lane motor banking and will match the existing architecture. Three sign permits were issued in September for a total of four signs. Some totals of thirty-one permits for fifty-nine signs have been issued so far this year. At this time last year, thirty-three permits had been issued for a total of forty-seven signs. Ambulance Service The ambulances made 588 runs for the third quarter of 1995 with a total mileage traveled of 8555. This quarter was our busiest quarter ever for ambulance runs. The next busiest quarter was the third quarter of 1994 with 508 runs for that quarter. The ambulance runs were up 80 runs over the third quarter of 1994. -2- Was 102 Medical 76 <' Emergencies Cardiac 58 '< Sick Calls 92 Transfers 79 Trauma -Assaults 40 Falls Strokes 9 Poisons 12 >` Psychiatric 9 Problems O.B.Patients 12 >' Drug -Alcohol 27 This quarter there wer 119 ambulance runs that were no haul,(patients refused treatment, non -injury accidents, etc). Also, this quarter there were 15 ambulance runs where two patients were treated and transported. All firefighters were involved in fire and emergency medical training this quarter. The man hours devoted to training were 1178. Of this training 880 man hours were done on -duty and 298 hours were done off -duty. Some of the training areas involved are listed below: E.M.T. Continued Emergency Am 1 n a e c Ambulance g Y Education Driving E .M T.-D lfl i Rece rt catn o -3- Our eight personnel that are taking the "Emergency Medical Technical Paramedic Course", are still very active in the course. They are doing their clinical portion of the course by going to work at Kalispell Regional Hospital for 12 hour shifts. They are going to class twice a week in the evening to practice their skills for the National Exam. Our personal are now going to Spokane, Washington to get their 60 hours of Field Internship. Fire Prevention activities occurring during the third quarter of 1995 were as follows,176 commerical building inspections with the fire marshal reinspecting 8 of the commercial buildings to correct the more serious problems. The fire marshal inspected 4 day care facilities for fire code violations. The fire marshal made 16 liquor license inspections for fire code violations. He also did 6 sprinkler inspections of buildings that are being built with fire sprinkler systems installed. The Kalispell Fire Department was active in the Flathead County Fire Investigation Team. It was involved in 4 fire investigations to determine cause and origin. The fire marshal was very busy with the tall grass and weed complaints, with 204 lots handled this season. Public Fire Safety activities included fire safety talks and demonstrations given to various civic, industrial, church and school groups. These activities contacted 636 people. The Public Fire Safety subject areas during this quarter were: Fire Safety In The Fire Safety In The Work Place Home Proper Fire Proper Use Of Smoke Extinguisher Use Detectors Kitchen Fire Safet Other Kalispell Fire Deaprtment contacts were made with 85 students and 15 adults in the form of Kalispell Fire Deaprtment tours. There were 39 people who used the "Kalispell Firefighters Chimney Brush Program" this quarter.
