Dear Mayor Rauthe:
In response to your notice in Sunday's Daily Interlake, I would very much like to serve
on the airport advisory board. In addition to having a deep interest in this community, I
am recently retired from the US military after having served for over 22 years and lived
at, or around, numerous airports both in the United States and overseas. I was involved in
aeronautics for over 18 of those 22 years. A brief summary of my qualifications follows
below.
I flew as a pilot for 18 years, flying over 50 different types of helicopters and airplanes. I
earned a Master of Engineering in Aerospace, and taught aeronautical engineering for two
years at the US Military academy at West Point, NY. I have worked with individuals
from all four military branches, representatives at all levels of industry and government,
and my most recent job was flying as a research test pilot with NASA at the Ames
Research Center in Moffett Field, California.
I would be glad to provide to you additional information on my qualifications should you
be interested and I look forward to talking with you in person about the above position.
Sincerely,
IL zz
