During this same time period in 1993-94, we had 16 call -out alarms. This is a major improvement, due in part to changes made by our Consultant Electrical Engineer and due in part to the 7 day/week work schedule begun on 11/1/94. -We installed a power surge battery back-up on the Digester Building gas alarm system. This will prevent future power blips from setting off a "false" alarm and calling out an Operator. -We will begin monitoring for fecal coliform in the effluent on May 1 st. The ultraviolet system operation manual indicates that the bulbs may only have a 2 year life before they have to be replaced; however, a preliminary check on the system shows no detectable fecal coliforms, so we do not have to replace the bulbs at this time. Replacement bulbs for the system will cost $6000. -One of the two mixers in the fermenter unit failed, but didn't show up on our Daily Run Time Report. The problem was discovered through routine laboratory analyses. We are presently adding alum to keep the phosphorus within permit limits until the fermenter can recover. Our Consultant Engineer has also set up controls and an alarm on the mixers since this unit is vital to phosphorus removal. -The cost of rebuilding the denitrification recycle and anaerobic recycle pumps will be $3900. We will then need to check the fermenter mixers to see if they need to be rebuilt. -The manufacturer of the fermenter recirculation and recycle pumps are sending us, at no charge, two rotating assemblies to replace the existing units that have never worked as well as anticipated. We will be responsible for the installation, and we will need to let them know how these units work. -A new Operator, Aaron Dehne, began at the Plant on 4/17/95. -Between April 1 - 24, we hauled 199 tons of sludge (16 trips), with an average solids content of 18%; we averaged 12.5 tons/trip. -The total flow through the Plant between April 1 - 23 was 41 million gallons, with an average daily flow of 1.7 million gallons. -The Operators and Lab Analyst performed 106 work orders between April 1 - 24; the Lab Analyst performed 300 analyses during this same time period. The Lab Analyst is also doing mandatory EPA quality assurance samples to evaluate the analytical and reporting ability of this laboratory. EPA will let us know the results of our analyses compared to the "true" value.
