While spring start-up in residential construction was healthy, it was overshadowed by commercial construction. Ernst Hardware will be completed in April. Plum Creek started some major projects and Shopko started it's new store. Zoning Activity The Zoning Administrator, in addition to regularly attending Site Review Committee, City Council and Planning Board Meetings, also attended a seminar hosted by PTI concerning communications capabilities and their application to planning activities. Karl Christians, Montana State Floodplain Coordinator, met with the zoning administrator to get an update on the city's floodplain development in 1993. Violation investigation and prosecution continues, as the office tries to keep up with abandoned signs and signs without permits. As has been the case the last several months, considerable time was spent on the Evergreen area annexation process. Board of Adiustment At their March meeting, the Board of Adjustment heard three requests for variances, one of which was granted. Neil Deering was granted a variance to construct a new industrial building within a required yard setback. Requests by Roger Reimann and Paul Voorhees for lot area and setback variances, respectively, were denied. No applications were received for the April Board of Adjustment meeting. Personnel Dick Fura completed his gas codes training class. Dwain requested to fill the Plans Examiner position and was moved to that position on March 21, 1994. Applications have been received and are being processed to fill the vacant building inspector position.
