BALLOT 2014 GENERA ELECTIONBALLOT 1 THE ELECTORS KALISPELL A NEW MILL LEVY TO PROVIDE lING FOR EMERGENC) MEDICALO' ; 0-4 MONTANA CODE ANNOTATED. Sections 7-34-101 through 7-34-104, MCA, provides the statutory authorization for the City of Kalispell to establish and maintain emergency medical services; and emergency medical services are provided by the City of Kalispell through its Fire Department; and existing funding and revenues generated by the emergency medical services have not been adequate to cover the personnel and equipment costs of the City to maintain its emergency medical services and these excess costs have therefore been funded out of general budget funds making it increasingly difficult to maintain an adequate level of service; and in order for the City of Kalispell to provide the desired level of emergency medical services to its residents and visitors, additional permanent funding, in the amount of $736,000 annually is needed and the number of additional mills required for the current year is eighteen and seven tenths (18.7); and the City of Kalispell will administer the funds received as special revenue to be used solely for the purposes of providing emergency medical services; and pursuant to Section 15-10-425, MCA, the City Council requires approval of the voters in order to levy additional funds for emergency medical services; and WHEREAS, a majority voting in the election in favor of the additional levy will authorize the City to levy additional millage in the future to raise the amount of $736,000 annually as set forth above. THEREFORE, BE O KALISPELL AS SECTION ® The City of Kalispell hereby calls for a ballot measure by the qualified and registered electors of the City of Kalispell at the 2014 General Election pursuant to Section 15-10-425, MCA, in the form as set forth in Exhibit "A", on the question of levying eighteen and seven tenths (18.7) additional mills to provide funding for emergency medical services. SECTION 11. The impact of levying eighteen and seven tenths (18.7) additional mills in the current year on • - valued 111 i wouldr•...• " SECTION III: The impact of levying eighteen and seven tenths (18.7) additional mills in the current year on a home valued at $200,000, would be approximately $48.96 in additional property taxes. SECTION IV. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council, and signing by the Mayor thereof.
