Around 2,112 linear feet of new water main and 5 new fire hydrants will be constructed with this project. These improvements will reduce maintenance costs and liability for water main breaks within BNSF Railway and Montana Department of Transportation rights of way. Bids were received and opened on May 8, 2014 at 2:30 PM. Five responsive bids were received from local contractors. The bid results follow: Contractor Total Bid Price Sandiy Construction Company, Inc. $769,419.00 J.D. Russell Excavating, Inc. $882,810.62 Paveco, LLC $658.686.10 LHC, Inc. $742,493.74 JTL Group, Inc., dba Knife River $881,033.50 Engineer's Estimate $783.740.60 References for Paveco, LLC were contacted and interviewed. Paveco, LLC was determined to be a responsible contractor successfully completing utility projects in Northwest Montana. STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS: Award the bid for the 4'h Ave EN Water System Improvement Project to Paveco, LLC in the amount equal to the sum of Bid Schedule No. I and Bid Schedule No. 2 for a total of $65 8,686. 10. ACTION REQUESTED: Motion to award the 4 1h Ave EN Water System Improvement Project to Paveco, LLC with the execution of Bid Schedule No. land Bid Schedule No. 2. FISCAL EFFECTS: A total of $654,797.70 of this project will be funded by the Water Fund, 4"' Ave EN Water Main Replacement (5210-447-430550-950). Currently $794,470.00 remains in this water fund for this scheduled capital improvement project. The remaining $38,888.40 of this project will be funded by the Storm Fund, Storm Drain Correction (5349-453-430246-952). Currently $100,000 remains in this storm fund. ALTERNATIVES: As suggested and approved by the City Council.
