Bids for the project were opened on Thursday, April 17'', 2014. One responsive bid was received. $100,000 was budgeted for this project. Contractor Base Bid Diamond Plumbing and Heating, Inc. $ 108,000.00 References for Diamond Plumbing and Heating were checked and they were determined to be a responsible contractor, successfully completing projects of similar scope and magnitude. STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS: Award the bid for the Digester Gas Room Piping and Equipment Replacement Project to Diamond Plumbing and Heating for the lump sum amount of $108,000.00. ACTION REQUESTED: Motion to award the Digester Gas Room Piping and Equipment Replacement Project to Diamond Plumbing and Heating for the lump sum amount of $108,000. FISCAL EFFECTS: The project will be funded by the Sewer Fund through the Wastewater Treatment Plant Machinery & Equipment line item (5310-455-430645-940). Although the bid is higher than the budgeted amount, other projects under this line item will not be completed this fiscal year, leaving $227,920 available under this line item. Additionally, in an effort to reduce the contract price, a change order will be issued to change the specified thermal mass metering system to a replacement of the mechanical metering currently in place. This change has been discussed with the bidder. ALTERNATIVES: As suggested and approved by the City Council.
