Draft/Memo/City Pool Design ProblemsMEMO
Memo to the files of Fred A. Leistiko
June 7, 2010
Subject: Problems at the City Pool with design.
1. The original strainer pump installed in the Lazy River Pool is way undersized for the
system.
2. There are a lot of water lines throughout the system that were put underground. Some
consideration should have been made to future maintenance and the lines exposed in the
mechanical room for inspection purposes.
3. The same situation exists at the pool area that exists throughout the City's system, no
accommodations were made for emergency lighting and emergency power at this location. In
the case of the locker rooms and shower area (both male and female), if there was a power
failure everyone in the locker rooms would be in the dark. Some may even be in the shower or
in the process of getting dressed. They would trip over benches, run into concrete walls, etc.
4. The boiler room has very poor ventilation and in the summer when the boilers are going
to heat the pool water the temperature in that area is unbearable. This could be a problem for
workers who are in the area dealing with chemicals and acid.
5. The concession stand was build to small, it has poorly constructed counter -tops and the
ventilation systems is inadequate for the people working in this area.
