10-26-05 Conrad Mansion MinutesCONRAD MANSION BOARD MINUTES October 26, 2005 at the Mansion Office Present: Rita Fitzsimmons, Mark Munsinger, Shirley Miller, Betty Norem, John Engebretson, Gary Havens and Tia Robbin Absent: Ev Sliter CALL TO ORDER: Rita called the meeting to order at 8:05 a.m. The Board approved the September 28, 2005 minutes with some revisions. DIRECTOR'S REPORT: (1) Kate reported that the Christmas Bazaar income was up approximately $1,500 from last year, and provided the Board the attached summary sheets and graphs. (2) Kate is in the process of performing employee evaluations. (3) Christmas tours will begin the day after Thanksgiving, and will be staffed by Kate and one staff member. (4) The Mansion will have a carriage in the Christmas Parade, with the carriage provided by Alan Quimby, and she will have a banner advertising the Christmas tours. (5) Gardener Jeff has indicated that he will be back again next year, and Kate lead a discussion concerning his wage and his hours, and concerning Steve's wage and hours. (6) She will be formulating a budget with Ev. (7) Mansion received the TIIP Grant of $41,400 (1 to 2 match) — we supply $20,000, the grant supplies $40, 000. (8) One Christmas party has been booked in December, and Kate feels the lack of response is due to the lack of heated and convenient restrooms. (9) The Mansion is participating in Art Walk on December 2, with the help of Board member Shirley Miller! (10) To date, recent Endowment Fund contributions total $48,671.00, which does not include the initial donation from the Bibler Foundation. (11) Kate is applying for a "New Event" grant — she is thinking about a "Bite of Kalispell" or Antique Fair. She asked the Board to give her any suggestions. PRESIDENT'S REPORT: Board Minutes - October 2005 Page I (1) Rita lead the discussion concerning the Endowment campaign and "lead people" to approach possible donors. Materials for the Endowment campaign should be available in Mid -November. (2) Rita reported that Kalispell Rotary is still interested in helping the Mansion. They have applied for a FEC Roundup -for -Safety grant, which initially was denied but will be re- submitted. (3) On Thursday, December ls`, at NOON, Rotary will hold its meeting at the Mansion. The event will be catered, and all Board members are invited to attend — and say "thank you" to the Rotarians for their past and continued support. Free tours will be offered after the meeting.
