05-18-06 Conrad Mansion MinutesCONRA.D MANSION BOARD MINUTES May 18, 2006 At the Mansion Office Present: Mark Munsinger, Everit Slifer, Tia Robbin, Rita Fitzsimmons, Shirley Miller, Gary Havens, and Kate Daniels; Director. Absent: John Engebretson The meeting was called to order at 8:35 A.M. The minutes from the April meeting were approved. Board Vacancy: Betty Norem resigned from the board in April, and it was decided to give her a lifetime mansion membership. Nominations to the board will be handled by the county, with input from the mansion board. Directors Report: A. Death by Chocolate made a profit of $8927.01, a record . 1. The board needs to decide how we want to handle this fundraiser for next year. 2. We have a D.J., Ross, who has agreed to be the M.C. for next year. 3. More volunteers and food doners are needed for next year. B. Event Policy: 1. There will be no fundraisers for other nonprofit groups in the mansion or on the grounds unless a member of the nonprofit group is a silver corporate member of the mansion. 2. Any events other than those sponsored by the mansion will be charged a $500. per day fee. C. Lawn Mower: 1. The board agreed to authorize $1000. toward the purchase of a new lawn mower. This will be in addition to the $500. already raised for this. 2. Thanks to Shirley, Mark, Tia, John, and Gary for contributing $100. each to the mower fund. D. Fire Inspection: l . The city fire inspector said we need another fire extinguisher for the basement. 2. Our smoke detection system needs upgrading, it is disabled, and to be maintained. This will cost approximately $10,000. 3. The sprinkler system had to be inspected and tested at a cost of $252. 4. All our lawn equipment, gasoline, paint, and fertilizers should be stored in a separate storage building, not in the basement. E. Membership 1. Thank you to Rita for designing and setting up our newsletter. 2. Since May 1 we have received $1290. in memberships and the total since July 1 has been $5470. 3. An outside mailer will do the newsletter for $160., and Kate will send an additional mailer soon. F. Grants: 1. Kate is applying for a grant from Plum Creek for the software we need. 2. Flathead Electric gave the mansion a grant for $5000. G. Electrical System 1. The first two phases are completed at a cost of $9127. 2. The next phase, exterior wiring, was approved and will be started shortly. H. Sidewalk and Misc 1. The city will put the sidewalk in this fall. 2. There has been an editorial about the mansion in the Parade of Holmes, and the Great Falls Tribune. 3. The Taste of Kalispell is being done by someone else, so we may have a membership party instead. 4. The north porch is fixed, thanks to New Leaf Landscaping. We still need to fix the leaks in the upstairs balconies. 5. The Kirtland Cutter exhibit will open on July 13. We need donors to help pay for this and for some hanging panels. 6. A big thank you to all the people and businesses who helped with Death by Chocolate. 7. We need to look at fixing some of the siding and painting the house and trim.
