January 6, 2014 — Regular Council Meeting BACKGROUND: The Flathead Valley Hoe -key Association is requesting permission from the City Council to serve beer at the 2014 Craft Brewers' Cup slated to be held at the enclosed Woodland Skating Facility on January 24th and 25th 2014. This fundraising event is planned to be managed just as it was last year as an adult hockey tournament with a brew fest featuring Montana beers on the 25th. The Flathead Valley Hockey Association has submitted the necessary event permit application. Pursuant to Ordinance No. 1725 the Kalispell Municipal Code was amended last year to provide for a permit process for an event which involves the consumption, possession or sale of beer and/or wine at the enclosed hockey rink at Woodland Park. The permit process requires that the matter be brought to the City Council for its consideration and approval. RECOMMENDATION: The Council should consider and approve the application of the Flathead Valley Hockey Association for the event as requested. PARADES NO CANDY OR OBJECTS MAY BE THROWN TO SPECTATORS. The applicant will ensure that participants do not ride on floats with their legs hanging over the side. The applicant will brief participants to maintain a safe and constant interval during the parade. This will help prevent the '4accordion effect" which results in gaps in the parade procession.
