PRESENT: Melanie Cross, Janet Clark, Margaret Lekander, Bill Goodman, Tim Price, Katharine Thompson City of Kalispell, Pam Carbonari, Jon Fetveit (8:10). MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AT 8:05am by Bill Goodman. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA: Moved by Tim, second by Melanie. Approved by all Board Members. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES OF MAY 13, 2010. Moved by Tim, second by Melanie. Approved by all. HEARING OF THE PUBLIC: No One present. Bill turned the meeting over to Jon. KATHARINE THOMPSON Katharine spoke regarding the City applying for a Brown Field Grant and asked for a member of the BID Board to sit on a soon to be formed committee. Margaret volunteered. POWER BOX FOR THURSDAYFEST Margaret moved to spend up to $1000.00 for the installation of an electrical box in the alley behind the Roost in order to power the events for Thursdayfest. Second by Melanie. Approved by all Board Members. COORDINATOR'S REPORT: See attached. Melanie left the meeting at 9:05 am. Margaret moved to authorize Jon to oversee Web Site Development and spend up to $300.00. Second by Tim. 3 approved, I disapproved. Motion passed. Next Meeting: June 24, 2010. Respectfully submitted; Janet Clark, Secretary June 10, 2010 Coordinators Report to the Board Downtown Development — • Hired LC staffing employee - Paul Faessel — Downtown beautification/host — Working 15 hours each week. • Historic Downtown Kalispell logo now digitized at Master Monograms • Downtown Security — 2 officers from KPD worked bike patrol for us, Saturday June 5 from 8:00 PM — Midnight — It was a fairly quiet evening. They did make several contacts. - $35.00 per hour • Flowers — beginning to be planted • Signage on Main Street — Contacted Rich Sipe with MDOT and Jim Hanz — City of Kalispell Approved by the City — City will supply the labor to install the signs (approximately $275.00) and will provide the bracket material for a cost to us of approximately $125.00. MEETINGS • Met with TBID Board — Presented information about BID projects at their request and communicated the need to coordinate on Advertising, Marketing/Branding and an event calendar • Met with Rita Fitzsimmons — discussed work to date on the Walking Tour Brochure — verbal report will cover specifics Thursday!Fest • John Paul Noyes — concerns regarding noise and people looking in the windows at Big Sky Martial Arts • KECI — Missoula called asking about Thursday!Fest • Sent notification to last year vendors regarding participation this year NEW DOWNTOWN EVENTS • 5K Run will be listed in American Profile magazine • Street Dance — Will be held in conjunction with The Glacier Rod Run — Friday, July 23rd COMMUNICATION/COORDINATION • Need to discuss and decide what the requirements are and the time periods for featured business and restaurant. • Called downtown businesses to update master list with email addresses • Contacted MDOT regarding signage on Highway 93 at the Southern entrance to the Truck Alternate Route. Montana Main Street Program 3rd Annual Montana Downtown Forum will be at the Holiday Inn Parkside, Missoula September 15 — 17, 2010. Crown of the Continent Conference I have been requested to speak on a panel at the conference in Waterton Park, Alberta September 23 -24. The panel will discuss ways in which communities are successfully integrated economic development, community heritage and landscape conservation. The keynote speaker is Jonathon Tourtellot of the National Geographic Society on the natural and cultural heritage, sharing how these values for the landscape play out in their community or region, with an emphasis on the economic values of an intact landscape. Other panelists include Randal Macnair, former Mayor and current council member from the City of Fernie, Dan Clark, Director of the Montana Local Government Center and former Mayor of Choteau and Beth Russell-Towe, with the Trail of the Great Bear in Alberta.
