WATER & SEWER COMMITTEE
July 2, 1984
The committee met on this date in the Conference Room at City Hall. Present were com-
40 mittee members Nystul, Springer and Ruiz; Water Superintendent Hughes and reporter Roger
Hopkins.
1. COURT HOUSE PARKS. The Supt. reported on the situation of leaking valves in the
parks at the court house. The City received a letter from Commissioner Wollan request-
ing that they be repaired. It was the recollection of those present that the mainten-
ance of the parks was the responsibility of the County. However, in the interests of
mutual harmony and the reasonable costs involved, it was moved, seconded and carried
that the Water Department make'the repairs. It was also to be pointed out to the
County that they should relocate their water meter for the building, as was requested
some time ago.
2. WATER FROM FIRE HYDRANTS. The Supt. reported on observations of individuals getting
water from fire hydrants for construction and other work without approval of the Water
or Fire Departments. While the water cost is minimal, it is a matter of purpose of use
of hydrants. Improper use could render them unavialab.le for their intended purpose of
fire fighting. Motion seconded and passed that the Water Supt. prepare additions to
the rules of the utility to cover this situation and that sufficient notice be given.
3. BOB MONK PROPOSAL ON HWY #935., As previously discussed, Mr. Monk would like water
and sewer to the property just south of the airport ball fields on Highway 493. His
triangular piece of property is in the city. This being an unique situation in that
the extension of lines crosses mostly city property, it seems appropriate for the city
to participate in the costs. All of the sewer line would be on city property and most
of the water line on city property, with =--some crossing the National Guard Armory
frontage. Upon the recommendation of the Supt. and DPW that the City shares be approx-
imately $16,000 for each water and sewer, it was moved, seconded andcarriedto recommend
to the Council that the cost sharing be concurred in;that the City participate in a
Developers Extension Agreement; that the provisions of the extension be reduced to a
written document and that the matter of funding the city portion be referred to the
Finance Committee.
4. UPDATING STORM SEWER STUDY. It was moved, seconded and carried that the final draft
of the contract with Thomas, Dean and Hoskins for updating of the 1972 and 1974 storm
sewer plans be recommended to the Council to authorize the Mayor's signature.
5. DR. ROGERS EXTENSION AGREEMENT. As previously approved, it was moved, seconded
and carried for presentation to the Council to authorize the Mayor to sign the Ex-
tensions Agreement for the Townhouses on Grandview Drive.
6. GREEN ACRES SEWER BILL. The bill for Green Acres has not been paid in full. The
contractor has corrected the infiltration into the lines but the developer has not paid
more on the bill. The Superintendent was authorized to notify the developer to meet
with the committee at the meeting of July 16.
7. DRAFT OF VOLUME TWO OF 201 PLAN. The draft of volume II of the 201 Facility Plan
for Evergreen has been received. After the Chairman reads it, approval will be rec-
commended to the Council. -
B. BUDGET. The Supt. advised the committee of some of the items in the proposed
budget.
Meeting adjourned at 5:00 P. M.
