02-17-88 Parking Comm MinutesPARKING COMMISSION February 17, 1988 4:00 PM Conference Room ATTENDING: Chairman Gordon Pirrie, Commission Members Bob Ivey, Steve Cooney, Colin Wills, Gary McCarthy and Howard Fryett. City Accountant Amy Robertson, Ed Trippet and Larry Lee were present as was Roger Hopkins of the Daily Interlake. Amy explained the Revenue Comparison sheet and print-outs of the budget for the commission that she handed out. She also answered questions about payments due on the Eagles lot stating there will be another payment due in May and there is enough left in the tax increment cash funds to pay that, or possibly pay off one loan with revenue funds on hand at that time. Chairman Pirrie stated there had been a number of complaints of ticketing of cars with permits for the Methodist lot due to the fact they were forced to park on the street. He recommended removing the 50d meter box and changing signage stating that the lot would be entirely permit parking. Commission members agreed and asked the secretary to send a letter to Police Chief Clark stating such. They also asked a letter be sent to those who had made complaints advising them of the change. There was lengthy discussion of properties proposed/offered to the commission with the following results: a) C. Pirrie entertained a motion to notify Keno Inn owner Chuck Hideman and . Tom O'Neil, owner of 424 Main property that commission appreciates their offers and will certainly keep them in mind, but they are looking in other areas at this time. Letter be sent to Bob Braig, owner of property at First Ave. W. & Second St., thanking him but stating commission is looking more at East side properties. Bob Ivey seconded and the motion carried. b) Steve Cooney made a motion to eleminate the K M lot for consideration at this time, Colin Wills seconded, motion passed with Gary McCarthy abstaining and Bob Ivey opposed. c) Commission asked the secretary to send letters to Sterling Rygg, owner of property North of Montana Tour and Travel, and the owners of the Big Sky Fly and Tackle building and Granny's Legacy building, stating that the commission may be interested in purchasing property and would appreciate their property values, if they are interested, before March commission meeting. Howard Fryett stated that the college would not have the Attorney General's opinion on the possibility of their getting a renveue bond until March 8th, although it does not look too hopeful according to D A Davidson at this time. The commission will wait until then to find out whether or not FVCC property will be for sale, etc. After more discussion of possible new parking areas, pros and cons, the meeting adjourned at 5:30 PM. 0
