PRESENT: CHAIRMAN ED FURLONG, COUNCILMAN WAYNE SAVERUD,MAYOR ED KENNEDY,
K:ENNETH WHITCOMB, LORRAINE BUNDESEK, DIANNE WILDER, PAULA ALLEY,, JANET
DOWNEY,RANDY KENYON, FATHRYN AGE_ER, ROGER HOPKINS, RICHARD KUHL, MIKE BURR,
MARY FETTER, ANDY HYDE, FORREST DALEY, MIKE BAKER, DALE HAARR.
CHAIRMAN FURLONG CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AT 4 PM AND WELCOMED EVERYONE.
PURPOSE OF' THE: MEETING IS AT THE REQUEST OF THE FRIENDS OF LAWRENCE F'ARK; TO
PRESENT THEIR PLAN TO THE PARKS COMMITTEE. CHAIRMAN FURLONG SAID ALL
COUNCILMEN WERE INVITED AND HE APOLOGIZED FOR THE POOR SHOWING OF COUNCILMEN.
CHAIRMAN FURLONG INTRODUCED OUR NEW PARKS DIRECTOR , MIKE BAKER.
CHAIRMAN FURLONG TURNED THE PROGRAM OVER TO DAVID DOWNEY. DR. DOWNEY PRESENTED
A SLIDE PRESENTATION OF THE FRIENDS OF LAWRENCE PARK: FLAN FOR OLD LAWRENCE PARK
AS WELL AS THE FLATLAND AND WETLAND.HE REVIEWED THE HISTORY OF LAWRENCE PARK.
WATER SUPERINTENDENT ANDY HYDE STRESSED THE NEED FOR OUR WATER DEPARTMENT TO
HAVE ACCESS TO OUR WELL AND WAREHOUSE IN OLD LAWRENCE PARK. DICK: KUHL STATED
THAT THERE_ WOULD BE NO CHANGE IN THE ACCESS WITH THE PLAN PRESENTED TODAY.
A FEW FUNDS HAVE BEEN RAISED BY F OF L PARK: BECAUSE COUNCIL MUST DECIDE
IDAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN THERE FIRST.
MRS. WILDER REFERRED TO MINUTES OF COUNCIL MEETING OF AUGUST 1985. SHE
ALSO STATED THAT A GOOD HISTORY OF LAWRENCE PARK: WAS AVAILABLE IN THE COUNTY
LIBRARY.
THE CORP OF ENGINEERS HAVE SAID THAT THIS PROPOSAL FITS IN TO THEIR FLANS
AND DOES NOT VIOLATE ANY OF THEIR REGULATIONS.
THE FRIENDS OF LAWRENCE PARK: FEEL THAT THIS LAND IS SUCH NICE LAND TO BE USED
AS PARK LAND THAT UNLESS THE GOLF PROPOSAL IS NOT CHANGED SIGNIFICANTLY IT
WOULD NOT BE OF MUCH BENEFIT TO MEET WITH THEM.
THERE WAS SOME DISCUSSION THEN THE MEETING WAS CLOSED BY COUNCILMAN FURLONG.
