Councilman Palmer called the meeting, to order shortly after 8:00 am.
_ Committee meTbers Ruiz and Nystul, Mayor Kennedy and Clerk/Treasurer Halver
were also there.
1. Business Licenses
Don Halver reported on his review of existing business license fees, fees
charged by other cities and his recommendation of a general business license
costing $25.00 a year.
Nayor I:ennedy said the Building Department would like a licensing system that
will allow him to know who is operating the business. It would also help the
police and fire departments. ?
Councilman 11ystul suggested we- ,should consider it as a registration of the
business and not as a method of levvin4 additional income.
Councilman Palmer suggested the licensing would be a good job for the Fire
Department, they could coordinate it with their inspections and would have a
curent record of all businesses.
Falver explained he would like the license for vending machines eliminated.
A special higher rate probably should be set fo"r"the merchant selling out of
the back of a truck.
It was the consensus the concept of all businesses in the City being licensed
at $25.00 a year be presented to the council at the next meeting.
2. Budget Review
Chairman Palmer asked if there would be a midyear budget review. Halver
reported there would be budget reports run after the bills are approved and
paid this week and he and the Mayor would be reviewing them.
