10-22-85 Finance Comm MinutesOCTOBER 22, 1985 FINANCE COMMITTEE 9:00 AM Attending: Chairman Ruiz, Councilmen Grainger and Saverud, Mayor McDowell, Police Chief Stefanie, City Attorney Neier, Clerk/treasurer Halver and Roger Hopkins. 1. Increase the Law Enforcement Professional Liability Policy There was general discussion of present insurance coverage and status of the budget; Clerk Halver reported the additional premium may require an emergency budget near the end of the fiscal year but the cash reserve should cover this premium. Councilman Saverud moved the city increase the Law Enforcement Professional Liability coverage from $500,000 to $1,000,000 with the additional premium of $2,157.75. Councilman Grainger seconded. 2. Halver had presented a proposal drafted by City Accountant Robertson to change from warrants to checks, as authorized by the last legislature. • Chairman Ruiz suggested we wait until we hear what policy changes may be suggested in the audit. 3. Ambulance write-offs. Mayor McDowell reported Alert had been writing off about 12-13% of their accounts. Councilman Ruiz asked if anyone wanted to make a motion to write off the current list of uncollectible accounts. Councilman Grainger moved the council be requested to write off these uncollectible accounts. Meeting adjourned 9:28 am. u. NOTE: When I called Doris Bigham, Executive Director, to tell her we wanted the additional coverage, she reported the premium would actually be $2,945.00 for the balance of this fiscal year. Dh
