11-17-82 Finance Comm MinutesFINANCE COMMITTEE
Meeting 11/17/82
The Finance Committee meeting was held at 400 P.M. on November 17, 1982, in
the Conference Room. Present were Chairman Nystul, Councilmen Ruiz, Grainger,
Mayor McDowell, City Attorney Neier, Gordon Pirrie, John Harp, Kevin Calnan
and John Heinecke.
The committee, having power to act, reviewed the light bids for the conduit
on the decorative lighting. One bid was received from Harp Line Construction.
The committee approved the award of the bid and instructed City Attorney Neier
to prepare the necessary documents.
The bids for the installation of the wiring and light poles were reviewed.
Both bids exceeded the amount available for the project. Kevin Calnan stated
the original estimate of $75,000 was made before the project was started. After
the highway job was let and more was found out, they thought they would be over
the estimate. John Harp stated he had received only one quote from light sup-
pliers. All agreed that with further research, including trying to locate cities
with old light standards they might sell, that a less expensive fixture could be
found.
The committee will recommend that all bids be rejected. It is the intention
that a new advertising for bids will be let in the spring. No work could be
accomplished at this time.
Meeting adjourned.
