The Regular Monthly Meeting of the City Council was held °.pril 7, 1959.
Mayor Walter presided, ;aitli all Councilmen present.
Minutes of the regular meeting of March 2nd and special meeting; March 23 were
read and approved as read.
City Officials' Reports:
Police Judge for March accepted on motion of Vick, seconded by Young.
Assistant Police Chief Curtis for March on motion of Fisher, seconded by Marmon.
Health Officer for March on motion of '_hl_-.,ins, seconded by Gustin.
City Clerk for February on motion of :Iillis, seconded by Fisher.
City Treasurer for February on motion of Earmon, seconded by Fisher.
Fire Chief quarterly report on mction of IIar:mon, seconded by Huggins.
City Engineer for March on motion of Gustin, seconded by Fisher..
Dr. Huggins, Chairman Sidewalk Cormiittee, reported no recommendation to proceed
with sidewalk across Great Northern Right of Way, on 3rd Ave. E.
Moved by Young that this project be tabled. Notion seconded and carried.
Resolution No. 2330, a resolution of approval of plans and specifications for
the sewage treatment plant, was presented and read. Moved by Young that the
Resolution be adopted. Motion seconded by Hugggins. On roll call vote of the
Council all Councilmen voted for passae of the Resolution.
A petition signed by owners of lots in Golf Course :addition No. 2 was presented
requesting change in name of street known as "Reservoir Road" to "Buffalo Hill Drive"
was thereupon adopted on motion of Vick, seconded and carried on roll call vote.
Assistant Police Chief notified the Council in writing that Gilbert Baldwin
had served the required probationary period as a police officer and was entitled to
permanent appointment.
Moved by Huggins that he be confirmed a regular member of the Police Force.
Motion seconded by Harmon and carried.
Police Chief James presented written application for transfer from the active
to the reserve status as a police officer because of physical disability.
It was moved by Harmon that Police Chief James be granted a two weeks leave of
absence pending action by the Police Conmiission on his application for transfer to
the inactive reserve list. Motion seconded by Huggins and carried.
A group of members of the Latter Dav Saints Church requested permission for
water and sewer connections for their new chapel to be built on Buffalc Hill adjoin-
ing Highland Park Addition.
They stated that they woulc'. a^rec to brim- their property* within the City limits,
would obtain the necessary easements for sewer and water lines to be installed at
their expense.
Marmon moved that under the above provisions permission be granted. Motion
duly seconded and carried.
It was moved by Young that the Church of Latter Day Saints also be given per-
mission to drain their site by ditching, dorm over Buffalo Hill to the east. Motion
seconded and carried.
Dan Korn Jr., representing the ::alispell .'utcmobile Dealers, requested permission
to block off Main Street between R. R. and 2nd St. on Friday, April• 17th, from noon
until 9:00 P. M. for automobile display and parade.
Approval was given by motion of Harmon, seconded and carried, with provision
that a fire lane be mainteined through the two block area and detour sicns be placed
at each entrance.
Mayor appointed Dick Vick to appear on his behalf at the hearing of the Inter-
mountain Bus Line Wednesday morning.

Moved by Young that City Engineer be authorized to call for bids on road
oil for this season's requirements. Motion seconded by Huggins and carried.
Willioa Sweetland, Editor of Daily Inter Lake, expressed his appreciation
to the outgoing Mayor and Councilmen for their services fo the City during
their term of office.
Approval of Bonds:
Bond. of B & M Pawn Shop was approved on motion of Young, seconded by Gustin
and carried.
The Council then adjourned on motion of Young, seconded by Harmon and
carried.
Read and approved this 4th day of May, 1959.

The Mayor and Council of the City of Kalispell, Flathead County, `Montana, met
in Special Meeting at the regular meeting place in the City Ball in Kalispell,
