The Regular Monthly Meeting of the Kalispell City Council was held August
8th, 1962 at 7t30 P. M.
Mayor Flynn presided with all Councilmen present.
Minutes of regular meeting July 5th and special meetins July 19th and 25th
were read. Roberts moved that minutes be approved as read. Seconded and carried.
Monthly reports of Chief of Police for July, City Engineer for July, Police
Judge for July, City Sanitarian for July, City Treasurer for June and City Clerk
for June were examined. Lenon moved acceptance of reports. Seconded by Turner
and carried.
Committee Reports:
Bjorneby for Airport- Report to be forthcoming from State Aeronautical
Engineer will indicate need to keep City Airport in operation. Tom Crum for
Flathead County Airport Board expressed willingness of Board to maintain airport
and to secure aid from the State Board.
Bjorneby moved that Council go on record favoring re -opening of the City
Airport and request cooperation of State Aeronautical and Flathead County Airport
Boards. Seconded and tarried.
Homuth for Finance - Committee reported all claims audited and approved and
moved adoption of report. Seconded and carried.
A Resolution of Intention to create Special Improvement District No. 300
for purpose of installing a'sanitary sewer in the Northeast and Milam Additions
was presented and read. Bjorneby moved adoption of the Resolution. Seconded by
Roberts. On roll call vote all Councilmen voted for adoption.
Moved by Turner and seconded by Roberts that call for bids be authorized for
the purchase of a new pick-up truck and new ditcher for Water Department. Motion
carried.
Request of Easthaven Baptist Mission located at 1034- 4th Avenue East, to
erect a church sign on their property was°granted. Motion made by Letlon. Seconded
and carried.
The following Surety Bonds were approved on motion of Roberts. Seconded by
Bjorneby and carried.

This meeting was also held as a budget meeting, being the time set to hear
protests against the preliminary budget.
The Council again reviewed the preliminary budget and made necessary
adjustments to provide for a 1�7. salary increase for Police and Firemen and 3%
increase for other city employees.
Morgan Stotts, spokesman for Firemen and Ronald Jones for Police asked that
their departments be given the 3% raise in addition to the annual 1% increment
provided for Firemen and Police. No action taken.
Smyser moved for adjournment. Seconded and carried.
