07/08/63 City Council Minutes12( 3 REGULAR MEETING Regular -monthly meeting of the Kalispell City Council was held July 8, 1963 at 7:30 P, M. Mayor Flynn presided with all, Councilmen present. Minutes of regular meeting of June loth and special meeting of June 17th were read. Bjorneby moved approval as,read. Seconded by Smyser and carried. Reports of City Officials: Monthly reports of Chief of Police, City Engineer, Police Judge, and City Sanitarian for June, monthly report of City Treasurer and City Clerk for May and quarterly report of Fire Chief, were examined and approved on motion -by Lenon, seconded by Bjorneby and carried. Resolution No. 2503, a resolution to annex Lots 14 and '15 of Baker Addition and a 5 acre tract adjacent was presented. Attorney Robert Keller, representing a group in apposition protested the annexation. Homuth moved that passage of resolution bepostponed., Seconded by Turner and carried., Carmen Marozza asked City to sponser and finance a swimming team to the State Meet. Lenon moved to refer to Recreation Committee fortaction and to explore the pro.pq,sal to lease the pool. Seconded and carried. Ed Fiselein, Pool Manager, reported to date on pool operation and collections. A.:M. White spoke on behalf of group protesting improvement of 9th-Street West.Roberts moved that the Council continue the improvement of 9th Street West as originally authorized. Seconded by Turner and carried. Mayor Flynn announced the receipt of a deed from Great Northern Railway dedicating Center Street to the Public. Lenon moved that City Attorney be authorized to dispose of the suit now pending with the Great Northern on protested payment of 19-62 Special Assessments. Seconded and carried. Ed McGonigle of -Montana Power Company presented -offer -to finance over a 3 year period gas conversion units for the City. Mayor appointed special com-- mittee of Roberts, Ellingson, Price and McClintick to investigate. The Council accepted the written resignation of A. L. Johnson, Water Department Superintendant, effective Augustl, 1963. Motion by Smyser---, seconded and carried. Finance Chairman HomutlX reported all claims examined and. approved. Moved acceptance of report.' Seconded and carried. .Safety.Committee Chairman Homuth filed written report of,committee of several recommendations for traffic control and safety. Turner moved adoption of report. Seconded by Smyser and carried. Pacific Power Company's request to place new power line on 9th Street was granted on motion of. Jerrow. Seconded and carried. Perkins -Asst. to City Treasurer 1,OOO 00 Charles Ward -Electricians Bond 1,000:00 Resolution No 2505 a resolution annexing City Airport,: Sewage Plant, and Park land as described in resolution No. 2502 was presented and passed on roll call vote on motion of,,Ellingson, seconded by Roberts. Resolution No.'2506 a resolution of intention to annex property of Howard Curtis.on Airport Road was presented and passed. Motion by Smyser and seconded by Roberts. Roll call vote taken with all Councilmen voting for. Resolution No. 2507 a resolution of intention to annex Hill property in Section '17, Township 28'N., Range 21 West was presented. Passed on roll call vote on motion of Homuth, seconded by Roberts. Request of Police Judge Christopherson to be absent from the City July 15th to August llth was granted. Motion by Bjorneby and seconded by Homuth and carried. Moved by Smyser that proposal of Pacific Power Company to replace 4000 lumen street Lights in r_es-idence area with new 7000 'lumen be given to Lighting Committee with power to act. -Seconded and carried.
