A regular meeting of the i:alisnell City Council was held October 10, 1766,
at 7:30 P. P:. in the Council Cha,,�bers with ?:ayor Flynn presiding.
All councilmen were present.
Minutes of the October 3, 1966, meeting were read and approved as read on
motion of Councilman Bjorneby. Seconded by Councilman W. Roberts and carried.
City Official Reports:
Clerk, Treasurer - August
Fire Dept. - Quarterly
Police Dept., Police Judge, Engineer, Sanitarian - September
Councilman Roche moved acceptance of the City Official Reports. Seconded
by Councilman Bjorneby and carried.
Committee Reports:
Street Lights - Councilman d. Roberts stated the report was not complete,
but that he expected to have a report by the next meeting.
The School District request for parkin- meters at the old Post Office was
discussed by Council members. It was felt that the installation of parking
meters in the parking lot would be inadvisa',le and that a better plan would be
for the School District to reserve the space it needed and to reserve space
for library patrons, and the balance of the parking be rented out on a monthly
rental basis.
Finance Committee - Councilman Honuth reported the Committee has audited
all claims, and moored acceptance of the report. Seconded by Councilman O'Brien
and carried.
A letter was received fro,-.- ' r. 1). P. Langbell, School Supt., stating that
it is the intention of the trustees of School Dist. 5 to annex the Junior -High
School area to the City. The Cit- Clerk was instructed to acknowledge the
letter.
:'.ayor Flynn complimented the Council on the purchase of the plant mix and
lay -down machine.
The possibility of one-way streets on the East side, particularly 3rd Ave.
East and 4th Ave. East was discussed. There was no action taken.
Hockey Rink - Councilman. Roche inquired if the City had equipment to widen
the area in Woodland Park for a Hockey and Curling Rink, as requested last year.
City Engineer i•,c Clintick said that it sight be necessary to use a drag line to
do the job. The City does not have this equipment, but it could be secured for
this purpose.
A letter from the Fire Rating 3ureau and addressed to Fire Chief Tillson,
was read by 1'`ayor Flynn.
The Safety Committee is to investigate the leasing of mobile radios and
the possibility of establishing a centralized communications office for all
departments.
i:ayor Flynn reported that there is to be another meeting of the Special
Legislative Group for first and second class cities in Helena on October 22,
and additional meetings were planned for future days. HF asked if the Council
desired him to attend these meetings. Councilman Homuth moved Ilayor Flynn be
authorized to attend meetings of the Special Legislative Group for first and
second class cities. Seconded bl, Councilman W. Roberts and carried.
