A regular meeting of trP ,"alispell City Council was held 'uCust 5, 1969,
at 7:30 P.N. in the `Oo IrCil C'iarnhPr.s. Yayor Riornehy presided.
All councilmen were present.
The minutes of the meeting hel_c' July 8, 196°, were react. Comncilrian
(„Brien moved approval. -of the minutes as read. Seconded by �_::ouncliman ?°c-
Cormick and carried.
Councilman Riley roved approval. of the July 18th r9inutes as corrected.
Seconded by Councilman C'I`Xlen ?nd carried.
Councilman Roche roved approval of the minutes of '-he 1.7th Budget
Meetin, and the Jule 21,th Regular Meeting. Seconded by �7ounci.l.nia» Riley
and carried.
Committee Reports:
Safety - Councilman t1ron reported the Committee reco?rr•er 's '-t,e salary
portion. of the Police Department_ budget be increased to 11';,"'7.23. The
salary raise for each permanent Police and Fire personnel is to he $25.00
per month. Also recorunended, was the hiring of an additional police officer,
Dale E. Gifford, whose starting salary is to be '�425.00 per month, with an
increase to $500.00 per month at the end of his probationary period, Decem-
her 1, 1968. The clothing allowance is to he paid to the new afficer at
the end of his temporary probationary period.
Councilman i'iron roved approval of the $25.00 per month salary increase
for the Police and Fire personnel and the hiring of the additional officer
to the police force.
Safety - Councilr�n 1-`iron moved the Chief of Police be authoriz5-d to
call for bids for radio equipment for the Police Department. S^conded by
Councilman Roche 3ncj carried.
