REGULAR MEETING
A REGULAR MEETING OF THE KALISPELL CITY COUNCIL WAS HELD AT 7:30 P. M., IN THE
COUNCIL CHAMBERS OF CITY HALL, SEPTEMBER 21, 1970. MAYOR BJORNEBY PRESIDED.
Councilmen: Miron, O'Brien, and Turner were absent. All other councilmen
were present.
READING OF MINUTES
Minutes of the regular meeting of September IJ4, 1970 were read. Councilman
Hensley moved approval of the minutes as read. 2nd Councilman Roberts. Carried.
ADDRESSING THE COUNCIL
Marlyn "Huz" Jensen, summer recreation director, thanked the City Council
for the Councils confidence in him and expressed appreciation to various city
employees and departments for the co-operation and assistance given the recreation
department during the past recreation season.
Mr. Joe Brown, Treasure State Equipment Co., showed a movie film which
demonstrated the uses of the SANIVAC, a vacuum powered multi -purpose municipal
utility unit.
RECESS
The meeting was recessed at 8:15 P. M. to meet in executive session.
Meeting reconvened at 8.40 P. M.
Councilman Roberts moved the City Engineer be sent to see the 3amVAC machine
and to return with report. 2nd Councilman McCormick. Carried.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Safety - Councilman McCormick
The Police Chief recomends the installation of four-way stop signs at
7th Street West and 7th Avenue Ebst. Councilman Roberts moved the request be
held in committee. 2nd Councilman McCormick. Carried.
Police Chief Waggener requests permission to send the 5 dispatchers to
school the 5th & 6th of October in Helena to be trained on the 8 level tele-
typewriter. Councilman Roberts awed. authorization for 5 dispatchers to attend
school in Helena, and authorization for travel by private transportation. 2nd
Councilman McCormick. Carried. (councilman Hensley voted no)
The Police Chief requests permission to attend the Chiefs meeting in
Billings October 9th & loth. Councilman Riley moved the Police Chief be
authorized to attend the Chiefs Meeting in Billings, and that travel by private
transportation be authorized. 2nd Councilman McCormick. Carried. (Councilman
Hensley voted no)
CORRESPONDENCE
Letter from James Bell regarding stop sign for 5th Avenue W. N. & Wyoming.
Council action previously taken on request for stop sign at this location.
Letter from City Treasurer Meva J. Boberg notifying council of vacation
dates.
MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS
City Engineer McClintick reported that the sidewalk installation in Ashiley
Court is about 50 % complete.
Councilman Roche moved adjournment. 2nd Councilman Riley. Carried.
