The training was held at the Flathead City/County Health Department and all of the volunteers passed. We will now be able to meet the new requirement that the City Council passed in June regarding alcohol sales at a not for profit event on city property. • After a few months break a small committee of persons interested in providing the public with correct information on the proposed City of Kalispell Airport upgrades has begun meeting again. Meetings will take place each week in anticipation of the upcoming general election ballot issue. • I attended the Governor's conference on Montana Main Street at FVCC. This is a statewide effort which is just beginning and will continue to address and look at the issues facing Montana businesses. • August 1 was the mid -year economic update which I attended. Predictions made 6 months ago by Paul Polzin were fairly accurate. COMMUNICATION/COORDINATION • We have moved forward with the fabrication of the wayfinding signs but continue to deal with ongoing issues. Recently it came to our attention that the CMYK colors for the printing of the signs and the font type for the wording was missing from our final documents. We have now resolved both issues and expect that the metal signs will be here within 2 weeks and the film for the signs should be completed at the same time. We are on schedule to have some signs in the ground by the end of August but will probably not see the completion until September. • I will be a guest on KOFI radio, August 7 to talk about The Taste of Kalispell. • I still continue to receive many positive comments regarding the hanging flower pots this year. We will send out a bid document for hanging pots and planters for the 2014 season. • Jennifer Young of the City of Kalispell Parks and Recreation coordinated with The Beacon, The KDA and the KBID to hold a walking audit of Downtown. Approximately 20 people attended and then made comments regarding bike racks, walkability, bike lanes, trash cans, condition of City owned parking lots. This is a discussion item for the BID Board and a recommendation to send a letter to the City regarding potential improvements. • Paul will not be working August 5 - August 10 so that he can participate in Festival Amedeus. I have a temporary person filling in for him this week. • I will be going to Minnesota to visit family Friday — Tuesday August 16 — August 20. EVENTS • First Friday was fairly well attended on Friday, August 2 with I 1 businesses participating. The weather was rainy and that could account for slower traffic. • The Taste of Kalispell is this Saturday. We have over 20 restaurants/businesses who have confirmed their participation this year. The major sponsor is Toyota and the band Cocinando. We have been very successful with additional event sponsors and should see a significant return for The Museum at Central School and the KDA. • Thursday!Fest has broken all records with attendance twice in July. Last week the attendance was light due to the weather but still a good crowd. • The Kalispell Firefighters held their 3 on 3 basketball tournament only July 13. I was there to help with setup and registration and loaned our tables and trash cans for the event. • I assisted with the Glacier Rod Run which was held on July 20. This is a great event downtown attracting many people. The Hockaday Art in the Park was the same weekend adding to the attraction of being downtown. • We have begun our meetings on the 5k run this month scheduled for September 28. National Flood will once again be our Title sponsor. It has been determined to add a 1 Ok race to this event. National Flood has a goal to add an additional 50 runners at a minimum. • August 27 the Kalispell Chamber luncheon will focus on The City of Kalispell Airport ballot initiative. The scheduled speakers are Jim Lynch, former Director of MDOT and Chad Graham an upcoming City Council member and the initiator of the petition drive.
