PRESENT: Margaret Lekander (Chairperson), Janet Clark, Tim Price, Melanie Cross, Jon Fetveit, Pam Mower & Pam Carbonari (BID Coordinator) ABSENT: Marshall Noice PUBLIC IN ATTENDANCE: Jim Ness, KDA President, Katharine Thompson, City of Kalispell, Diane Medler, TBID/KCVB MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AT 8:05 AM by Chair Margaret Lekander MOTION: to approve the agenda dated 614/12 and minutes of 4/3/12 by Janet, second by Melanie - Approved unanimously HEARING OF THE PUBLIC: Jim Ness gave an update on the KDA events and Diane Medler talked about the Dragon Boat Festival and Majestic Valley Arena. BUSINESS: Pam Mower was nominated as Vice Chair by Janet Clark and a second by Jon Fetveit. Motion carried unanimously. Janet moved and Melanie seconded a motion to approve Jon Fetveit and Tim Price for another term on the Board of Directors. This passed unanimously and will be forwarded to the Kalispell City Council for confirmation. There was discussion regarding the Downtown Kalispell Wayfinding signage designs and the next steps to move the project forward. Some signs including downtown gateways will be in the ground by August. Marshall requested that the BID approve an expenditure of $800.00 for a full page ad in the Picnic in the Park brochure. The motion was made by Janet and seconded by Melanie and passed unanimously. Pam requested a discussion regarding the purchase of an office printer, computer keyboard, programs and a screen. Pam Mower made a motion and it was seconded by Melanie to approve the expenditure of up to $800.00 for the purchase of the printer, keyboard, programs, screen and installation. A motion was made by Pam and seconded by Melanie to approve the printing of event cards at a cost of approximately $530.00. ADJOURN Janet moved to adjourn the meeting at 9:50 AM, seconded by Melanie - Approved unanimously NEXT MEETING Tuesday, June 4 at 8:00 AM — Whipps Building, Second Floor Conference Room Respectfully submitted, Pam Carbonari, BID Coordinator May 1, 2012 Coordinators Report to the Board Downtown Development e New owners of several businesses were welcomed to the downtown district; Sweet Peaks Ice Cream - Marissa Keenan & Sam Dauenhauer; The Spot Restaurant — Dave & Elishia (Elly) Snyder; The new owners of Montana Expressions West - Karen Cramer and Stephanie Hanson R & R Home — Heather Arlint and Christy Eisinger • I confirmed that the building on the corner of 4th and Main is under contract and should close this week or next. The new owners - Cole Schneider and Maggie Dougherty hope to open a brewery by October or November of this year. • Line-X is in the process of providing the BID with a quote to powder coat the legs/arms for the benches on 1" Ave. E., 1 st Ave. W. and 2nd Ave. W. They will remove the benches and re -install after powder coating if you approve their bid. • You requested that I get a price for hanging flower pots in downtown. Main Street has 37 decorative light poles, First Ave. E., 48 decorative light poles, 1st Ave. W. has 37 decorative light poles and 2nd Ave. W. has 20. The total number of decorative light poles is 142. The price for a hanging pot would be $45.00 each. A discussion regarding this item is in order. MEETINGS • KDA membership applications and new benefit levels have been adopted by the KDA. • I participated in the open house for the wayfinding signage on April 3 & 4 and have been involved with 2 additional conference calls with Vicky Soderberg & Todd Mayfield of Cygnet strategies regarding next steps which will include an additional open house and gateway signage concepts. COMMUNICATION/COORDINATION • I have gathered and prepared budget numbers for your review. • Wooden coin brochure picked up and distributed to the Chamber of Commerce. We will need to print more maps and possibly order additional coins. • I received bids on our liability/event insurance and will discuss with the board at the meeting today. • I have met with the CORE review committee twice and will serve as the chair for this committee • DNS Technologies — Dave Bailon is working with me on our computer/printing needs. A request to purchase a printer/keyboard/screen and technical assistance will come before you at the May 1 meeting. • Requests have been made to update our web page for 2012 events and other corrections. Board members need to be updated on the KDA and BID pages and the run application and the new KDA membership application and benefits for this year need to be added. • Paul Faesle our downtown ambassador is having knee surgery and will be out of work for a number of weeks. Last week I interviewed a temporary replacement who began work on Monday, April 30. His name is Jim Comer and he will be working 25 hours a week until Paul has recovered and can return to work. EVENTS • We will begin First Fridays in Downtown Kalispell this Friday May 4. Downtown establishments will remain open until 8:00 with special discounts, food and some drinks. e A reminder Thursday!Fest begins June 28 — September 6. We have secured the bands for all of the events. • I assisted with posters and ticket distribution prior to the April Music event and at the Music event. • I have contacted Shawn Altenburg again, regarding the IMBIBE event which is scheduled to take place at the Red Lion Hotel the weekend of Canadian Days in May and have been promised additional information and have received none.
