A RESOLUTION TO ALTER AND AMEND THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS OF
CONTRACT WITH SANDON CONSTRUCTION COMPANY ON THE TETON TERRACE
PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the City on July S, 1996 did enter into a contract
with Sa ndon construction Company of 1600 Montana 35 East,
Kalispell, Montana for construction of the Teton Terrace project,
and
WHEREAS , upon the advice and recommendation of Ian Bailey, who
is the City's consultant on said project, certain changes and
alterations of design and specifications have been found necessary
and advisable and in the best interests of the City; and said
changes and alterations could not have been necessarily foreseeable
when the original design and specifications were prepared on this
phase of the construction of the Teton Terrace project, and said
changes are contained in Exhibit "A",, attached hereto and are by
this reference made a part hereof; and
WHEREAS, it appears in the best interests of the City to
approve said changes and alterations,
NOW THEREFORE, pursuant to the provisions of Section 7-5-
4308(1) MCA be it hereby resolved:
1 , The Alterations and modifications of the specifications
and plans of the contract between the city of Kalispell and Sandon
Construction Company, dated August 19, 1996, as set out in Exhibit
"At' attached hereto are hereby approved, and
2, As soon as the price to be paid for said alterations and
modifications are agreed to in writing, signed by the contractor,
as hereby approved by the council, this approval thereof shall be
in effect,

Change order No. 1
Change order No. I includes labor and rnatenials for two separate items
l . Electrical utility conduit and trenching from the transformers to the meter base locations
at each residence.
2. An additional 6" gate valve to be used with the fire hydrant relocation on Iris Court.
Justif catiorn is as follows:
l . The M" sftallation of electrical service trench and conduit has been moved from the act -al
home construction portion of the project to the infrastmetore portion of the project to
avoid requiring each home builder to dig electrical service trench through the graded and
seeded common area. The change will also consolidate the electrical work der a Single
contractor versus up to 11 separate contractors.
Are ultimate pro,�ect sav wgs should be realized sm€ce the infrastructure contractor can
install many of the service Ues in a common trench with tither electrical service lines
and the backbone electric lines. The change will result in less trenching and less
disruption of finish graded areas.
2. The 6" gate valve is required at the fire hydrant relocation on Iris Court to avoid
disruption of service and disinfection procedures on the existing min serving Hawthorn
West residents. There is no way to shut down the existing main close to the new
constriction. The entire existing mafn will require a 24 hour disinfection process if the
existing valve is removed. The expense of the new valve is outweighed by the cost of
temporary services disinfection and aggravation to water users in Hawthorn west.
The contractors prica for the above items are reasonable and consistent Frith the original bid
prices. We rec+omrnend approval of this Change Order.
