For fiscal year 2014, staff is recommending an increase in the assessment. The increased amount would be levied proportionately on a square foot basis in the amount of $.00271 per lot or parcel of land within the district, excluding public streets or rights of way. RECOMMENDATION: Approve Resolution 5641 adopting the Urban Forestry Maintenance assessment. FISCAL EFFECTS: Anticipated revenue to be generated by the assessment is $301,808. i 4ickWills Finance Director RESOLUTION NO.5641 A RESOLUTION LEVYING AN ASSESSMENT FOR THE COST OF URBAN FORESTRY MAINTENANCE IN THE CITY FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2013-2014. WHEREAS, the assessment cost of the Urban Forestry District for the fiscal year 2013-2014 is estimated to be $301,808.00, and WHEREAS, at a public hearing held on the 5th day of August, 2013, the City Council did consider all objections made to said estimate and to the basis of levy and assessment for payment for said cost. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KALISPELL, MONTANA: SECTION 1. That a tax levied for the assessment cost, or $301,808.00, be in the amounts set opposite the description of each lot or parcel of land, as shown by the special assessment lists on file in the office of the City Finance Director. SECTION 2. The amount of said tax shall be levied proportionately on a square foot basis in the amount of $.00271 per lot or parcel of land within the district, except public streets or rights of way. Tax levy amount shall be capped at $150.00 per residential parcel and $300 per commercial parcel.
