SUBJECT: Request by Hilton Garden Inn for Further Airport TIF
Reimbursement
MEETING DATE: Monday, April 14, 2008 — work session
BACKGROUND: As a part of the City's purchase and sale negotiation for the
Armory property, the City agreed to provide $880,000 of eligible Airport TIF funds
to the project. These funds have been paid. The owners of the Hilton Garden Inn
would like the City Council to consider paying up to the maximum eligible amount
of Airport TIF funds which appear, at this time, to be an additional amount of
approximately $520,000. The construction ran into unforeseen project costs related
to the poor soils and creating a proper base involved removing and replacing a large
amount of soil material. The owners will present their case to Council regarding
the benefits the facility is providing to the City.
REC0 NDATION: That Council take into consideration the request of the
Hilton Garden Inn owners as it reviews and plans the use of the cash flows created
by the Airport TIF district.
Respectfully submitted,
