The % ton truck is budgeted at $26,000.00 and the 1 ton truck is budgeted at $33,000.00. The budget amounts include the cost of a plow for the'/a ton and service boxes for both, to be obtained separate of the initial vehicle purchase. In order to ensure the lowest cost for vehicles, the City has in the past included its vehicle requirements in with the larger annual Montana State vehicle bid. This bid is open to all dealers in Montana. We followed this process again this year. In addition and out of respect for previously expressed City Council sentiments that local vendors should be included, Public Works requested quotes for same specification replacement vehicles from three local auto dealers. These dealers are Scarff Auto Center, Eisinger Motors, and Kari Dodge Chrysler. Scarff Auto and Kari Dodge Chrysler responded to our request. Eisinger Motors did not respond. The tally of prices is summarized in the attached staff memo. All prices are for delivery to Kalispell. The State bid price (Frontier Motors, Billings) for the % ton truck is low, by $2,965.43, at $20,496.57. The State bid price (Ronan Auto Sales, Ronan) for the 1 ton truck also is low, by $2,317.00, at $22,658.00. RECOMMENDATION: Public Works recommends purchase of the replacement vehicles from the vendors awarded the state bid. FISCAL EFFECTS: Expenditure of budgeted funds from the Water Fund totaling $43,1.54.57. ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Council Chris A.
