SUBJECT: Award Bid, Annual Sidewalk and Curbing Construction Program
MEETING DATE: May 7, 2001
BACKGROUND: The FY 2000/2001 budget includes a line item for sidewalk replacement by
residents and businesses wishing to replace damaged walks, curbs and gutters. The work
anticipated by this contract will involve sidewalk and curbing construction for the next fiscal year
ending June 30, 2002. Residents and businesses may use this program to replace walks and to
repay the cost via annual City assessments over eight (8) years. The amount budgeted this year is
$25,000.00 but will be increased in the next budget to $85,000.00 in order to accommodate the
use of this program to fund the project on Claremont Street. A single unit price bid was received
on April 251n from Sandon Construction.
RECOMMENDATION: We recommend award of the "Sidewalk and Curbing Construction for
the Year Ending June 30, 2002" contract to Sandon Construction based on their low bid
FISCAL EFFECTS: Potential expenditure of budgeted funds as indicated with construction cost
reimbursement by residents and businesses.

This contract is intended primarily for residents and businesses wishing to take advantage of the
annual sidewalk construction program. Sandon Construction was the only bidder. This bid is in
order and contains the required Bid Bond.
