REPORT TO: Mayor and City Council
FROM: Jim Hansz, Director of Public Works
SUBJECT: Award Bid, 2001 Street Overlay Project
MEETING DATE: May 7, 2001
BACKGROUND: The FY 2000/2001 budget includes appropriated funds in the Downtown
Urban Renewal District (TIF) and Gas Tax budgets for chipseal and overlay pavement
preservation of City streets. The amounts budgeted, exclusive of carried over funds for prior work
in progress, total $262,411.00 in new funds. The overlay project was developed around a portion
of this amount. Bids were received on April 25'h from A-1 Paving and Pack & Company in the
amounts of $89,170.00 and $103,500.00, respectively. Bid details are shown on the attached staff
memorandum. Actual costs to be paid for work performed will be based on measured quantities in
place. Therefore, final contract costs may differ slightly from those shown above.
RECOMMENDATION: We recommend award of the 2001 Overlay contract to A-1 Paving
based on their low bid of $89,170.00.
FISCAL EFFECTS: Expenditure of budgeted funds as indicated.
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Council.
