SUBJECT: Urban Forestry assessments
MEETING DATE: August 6, 2001
BACKGROUND: The resolution is adopted to provide a levy to fund the cost of the
Urban Forestry District. The district was created last year. The
assessment fee is set at .000675 per square foot of all parcels and lots
in the City. There is no increase in this assessment over the previous
year. The assessment will be capped at a maximum of $150.00 per
parcel which is equivalent to parcels with I11,111 square feet.
RECOMMENDATION: Adoption of resolution 4643 setting the assessments for Urban
Forestry.
FISCAL EFFECTS: The City anticipates receiving $53,500 in revenue to be used for the
costs associated with the Urban Forestry program in the City.
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by Council.

RESOLUTION NO. 4643
A RESOLUTION LEVYING AN ASSESSMENT FOR THE COST OF URBAN FORESTRY
MAINTENANCE IN THE CITY FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2001-2002.
WHEREAS, the assessment cost of the Urban Forestry District for
the fiscal year 2001-2002 is estimated to be $53,500.00,
and
WHEREAS, at a public hearing held on the 16th day of July, 2001,
the City Council did consider all objections made to said
estimate and to the basis of levy and assessment for
payment for said cost.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
KALISPELL, MONTANA:
SECTION I. That a tax be levied for the assessment cost,
or $53,500.00, be in the amounts set opposite the
description of each lot or parcel of land, as shown by
the special assessment lists on file in the office of the
City Finance Director.
SECTION II. The amount of said tax shall be levied
proportionately on a square foot basis in the amount of
$.000675 per lot or parcel of land within the district
except public streets or rights of way.

THE CITY OF KALISPELL THIS 6TH DAY OF AUGUST, 2001.
