SUBJECT: Mill levy - FY2002 Budget
MEETING DATE: August 6, 2001
BACKGROUND: The resolution is adopted annually to provide a levy to fund the City's
Budgets for the General Fund, Comprehensive Insurance Fund, Health Insurance Fund and
Retirement Fund. The mill levy is set at the allowed amount per the calculations on forms
provided by the Department of Revenue. The levy calculation adjusts the mill value for changes
resulting from S13184, HB260 and H13124. The new City levy is 128.19 mills. The revenue
generated by this levy includes the 1.28% inflation factor allowed by HB1241 generating
approximately $33,000. It also includes the adjustment for lost revenue due to previous
legislation pertaining (SB184) for personal property reimbursements and motor vehicle.
RECOMMENDATION: Adoption of Resolution 4637 setting the mill levy at 128.19 for the
City of Kalispell.
FISCAL EFFECTS: Levy will generate approximately $2,700,000 in tax revenue for the City.
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by Council.

A RESOLUTION MAKING THE ANNUAL TAX LEVIES FOR THE CITY OF
KALISPELL, MONTANA, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2001-2002.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KALISPELL AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. That there is hereby levied upon each and
every dollar of the taxable valuation of the City of
Kalispell, Montana, for the fiscal year 2000-2001, the
following levies:
GENERAL FUND
90.91 MILLS
COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE 7.96 "
RETIREMENT
HEALTH INSURANCE
SUBTOTAL
