Resolution 4607 - Establishing Fire Lane at Stream Internationalt City of Kalispell Post Office Box 1997 -Kalispell, Montana 59903-1997 -Telephone (406)758-7700 Fax(406)758-7758 REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council FROM: Richard Seddon, Fire Marshal SUBJECT: Fire Lane on Glenwood Drive MEETING DATE: April 2, 2001 BACKGROUND: The Fire Department is requesting the area behind the Gateway West Mall (now Stream International), from the intersection with Highway 2 West to the intersection of Husky Drive on Glenwood Drive be designed as a Fire Lane. This area has seen increased use for parking since the building use has changed with the introduction of Stream. The area in question has two Fire Department Connections for sprinkler systems. This area needs to be open for the Fire Department to work in the event of an emergency. RECOMMENDATION: The City Council approves the adoption of the new Fire Lane. FISCAL EFFECTS: None ALTERNATIVES: Remain with the parking as it is at present. Respectively submitted, i A, iar oh Chris A Kukulski Marshal City Manager RESOLUTION NO. 4607 A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A FIRE ACCESS LANE ON THE WEST SIDE OF GLENWOOD DRIVE (BY STREAM INTERNATIONAL), PURSUANT TO SECTIONS 6.17(c) AND 2.01, KALISPELL ZONING ORDINANCE, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KALISPELL AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. That there is hereby created a fire access lane in which parking of vehicles is prohibited at the following location on Glenwood Drive: The West side of Glenwood Drive beginning at a point 206' North of the intersection of Highway 2 West and Glenwood Drive, and extending north to the intersection of Husky Street, a distance of 388 feet. SECTION II. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage by the City Council.
