Kukulski City Manager Report compiled September 11, 2002 Interoffice Memo To: Jim Hansz, Public Works Director From: Terri Loudermilk, Administrative Coordinator' Date: 9/10/02 Re: Water Main and Hydrant Materials Bid During the budget process the Fire Department identified several areas within City limits that do not have adequate hydrants. While this is a fire safety issue, it also impacts the ISO rating in 2 %z years. Therefore, the 2002/2003 Water budget includes an appropriation of $100,000 to replace 30 — 35 of the identified fire hydrants. On September 4, 2002 two bids were received for the materials that will be needed for the project. The bids are summarized below: Hughes Supply $54,202.70 Northwest Pipe Fittings $56,176.25 Our budget included $65,000 for materials and $35,000 for labor. Both bids are within the available budget and meet the specifications that were required. It is my recommendation that the bid for the water main and hydrant materials be awarded to the lowest bidder, which is Hughes Supply.
