BACKGROUND: Officer Anthony McDonnell was hired as an entry level police
officer September 1, 2001. He is being recommended for confirmation following his one
year probationary period. See letter of recommendation for confirmation from Chief
Garner.
RECOMMENDATIONS: The council should confirm Officer McDonnell.

I respectfully request that Officer Anthony McDonnell be confirmed as a patrol
officer for the Kalispell Police Department. Officer McDonnell has successfully
completed his one-year probationary period effective May 14, 2002.
Officer McDonnell has demonstrated exceptional levels of professionalism,
compassion, tenacity and common sense. His level of expertise far exceeds his years of
experience and his work ethic is exceptional. Tony is a team -player with great
enthusiasm and a person whose cup is always half full.
His diligence and commitment were exemplified in a recent letter of
commendation he received. Officer McDonnell was commended for a traffic stop and
resulting drug investigation that led to multiple arrests and the seizure of a drug operation
in Washington by the Drug Enforcement Administration that was valued in the "mullions"
of dollars.
Officer McDonnell constantly demonstrates that his badge is a symbol of public
trust. He is the type of officer who improves those around him and his peers recognize
him as an outstanding officer with high ethical and professional standards.
We are very fortunate to have Tony on our department and it is my pleasure to
give my highest recommendation to the confirmation of Officer McDonnell with this
agency -
