BACKGROUND: The 9-1-1 Committee is comprised of appointees from different agencies
in Flathead County. The number of appointees is based on roles and population represented.
The City of Kalispell has one City Council Member, and one Public Safety Chief, with the other
Public Safety Chief as the Alternate.
Police Chief Frank Garner has been the Public Safety appointee, and Fire Chief Randy Brodehl
has been the Alternate. The intent was that these two positions would rotate annually.
According to the 9-1-1 bylaws, this is role is appointed by the City Council, so Council action is
required to make this annual change.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Council appoints Fire Chief Randy Brodehl as the Kalispell Public
Safety representative to the 9-1-1 Committee, and appoints Police Chief Frank Garner as the
Alternate. Council agrees that this appointment will be rotated automatically every July I",
beginning July V of 2003.
