SUBJECT: Urban Forestry assessments
MEETING DATE: July 15, 2002
BACKGROUND: The resolution is adopted to provide a levy to fund the cost of the
Urban Forestry District. The assessment fee is set at .00135 per
square foot of all parcels and lots in the City. The assessment will be
capped at a maximum of $150.00 per parcel. The City General Fund
subsidized the Forestry District for two years with $50,000 per year.
This year the assessment has been raised to eliminate the General
Fund contribution.
RECOMMENDATION: Adoption of resolution 4730 setting the assessments for Urban
Forestry.
FISCAL EFFECTS: The City anticipates receiving $100,000 in revenue to be used for the
costs associated with the Urban Forestry program in the City.

RESOLUTION NO. 4730
A RESOLUTION LEVYING AN ASSESSMENT FOR THE COST OF URBAN FORESTRY
MAINTENANCE IN THE CITY FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2002-2003.
WHEREAS, the assessment cost of the Urban Forestry District for
the fiscal year 2002-2003 is estimated to be $100,000.00,
and
WHEREAS, at a public hearing held on the 1st day of July, 2002,
the City Council did consider all objections made to said
estimate and to the basis of levy and assessment for
payment for said cost.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
KALISPELL, MONTANA:
SECTION I. That a tax be levied for the assessment cost,
of $100,000.00, be in the amounts set opposite the
description of each lot or parcel of land, as shown by
the special assessment lists on file in the office of the
City Finance Director.
SECTION II. The amount of said tax shall be levied
proportionately on a square foot basis in the amount of
$.00135 per lot or parcel of land within the district
except public streets or rights of way. Tax levy amount
shall be capped at $150.00 per parcel.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL AND SIGNED BY THE MAYOR OF
THE CITY OF KALISPELL THIS 15TH DAY OF JULY, 2002.
