Resolution 4727 - Budget Resolution - Decorative Lighting DistrictCity of Kalispell Post Office Box 1997 - Kalispell, Montana 59903-1997 - Telephone (406)758-7700 Fax(406)758-7758 REPORT TO: Mayor Kennedy and City Council Members FROM: Amy Robertson, Finance Director Chris Kukulski, City Manager SUBJECT: Decorative Light Maintenance assessments MEETING DATE: July 15, 2002 BACKGROUND: The resolution is adopted annually to provide a levy to fund the cost of maintenance and electricity for Decorative lights in the Downtown light district. Lighting assessments are charged at 1.50 per front foot. This assessment is the same as last year. RECOMMENDATION: Adoption of Resolution 4727 establishing the assessments. FISCAL EFFECTS: The City anticipates receiving $6,365 in revenue to be used for the costs associated with Decorative Light Maintenance. ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by Council. Amy A. Kukulski City Manager RESOLUTION NO. 4727 A RESOLUTION LEVYING AN ASSESSMENT FOR THE COST OF LIGHTING THE STREETS IN THE CITY DOWNTOWN DECORATIVE LIGHTING DISTRICT FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2002-2003. WHEREAS, the assessment cost of District for the fiscal $6,365.00, and the Downtown Decorative Lighting year 2002-2003 is estimated to be WHEREAS, at a public hearing held on the 1st day of July, 2002, the City Council did consider all objections made to said estimate and to the basis of levy and assessment for payment for said cost. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KALISPELL, MONTANA: SECTION I. That a tax be levied for the assessment cost of $6,365.00, be in the amounts set opposite the description of each lot or parcel of land, as shown by the special assessment lists on file in the office of the City Finance Director. SECTION II. The amount of said tax shall be levied proportionately on a front foot basis in the amount of $1.50 per front foot of lot or parcel of land within the district except public streets or rights of way.
