Resolution 4726 - Budget Resolution - Light MaintenanceCity of Kalispell Post Office Box 1997 - Kalispell, Montana 59903-1997 - Telephone (406)758-7700 Fax(406)758-7758 REPORT TO: Mayor Kennedy and City Council Members FROM: Amy Robertson, Finance Director Chris Kukulski, City Manager SUBJECT: Light Maintenance assessments MEETING DATE: July 15, 2002 BACKGROUND: The resolution is adopted annually to provide a levy to fund the cost of maintenance and electricity for City Street lights. Lighting assessments are charged at .00242 per square foot. This is an increase of $.00100 per square foot in the assessment rate to cover the increased cost of electricity. RECOMMENDATION: Adoption of Resolution 4726 establishing the assessments. FISCAL EFFECTS: The City anticipates receiving $131,567 in revenue to be used for the costs associated with Light Maintenance. ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by Council. G C Amy If. Robertson Chris A. Kukulski Finance Director City Manager Report compiled: July 10, 2002 RESOLUTION NO. 4726 A RESOLUTION LEVYING AN ASSESSMENT FOR THE COST OF LIGHTING THE STREETS AND ALLEYS IN THE CITY SPECIAL LIGHTING DISTRICT FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2002-2003. WHEREAS, the assessment cost of the Special Lighting District for the fiscal year 2002-2003 is estimated to be $130,624.00, and WHEREAS, at a public hearing held on the 1st day of July, 2002, the City Council did consider all objections made to said estimate and to the basis of levy and assessment for payment for said cost. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KALISPELL, MONTANA: SECTION I. That a tax be levied for the assessment cost of $131,567.00, be in the amounts set opposite the description of each lot or parcel of land, as shown by the special assessment lists on file in the office of the City Finance Director. SECTION II. The amount of said tax shall be levied proportionately on an area basis in the amount of $.00242 per square foot of lot or parcel of land within the district except public streets or rights of way.
