MEETING DATE: July 1, 2002
BACKGROUND: Identified in the annexation plan for Glacier Village Greens was
the need for a cart path to allow residents to transport golf carts throughout the
subdivision to the golf course. A resolution designating a certain portion of the roadway
for that purpose has been developed by the city attorney.
RECOMMENDATIONS: The Council should approve an ordinance on second
reading dedicating a certain portion of the roadways in Glacier Village Greens as a cart
path.
FISCAL EFFECTS: None.
ALTERNATIVES: As directed by Council.

ORDINANCE NO. 1426
AN ORDINANCE CREATING A DEDICATED GOLF CART PATH ON THOSE CERTAIN
STREETS IN GLACIER VILLAGE GREENS AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KALISPELL, MONTANA,
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. DESIGNATION. The Department of Public Works shall
designate golf cart lanes established by the city council by the
placement of appropriate signs and roadway markings.
SECTION II. SPECIFIC AREAS. The following streets or portions
of streets are hereby designated golf cart lanes:
(a) A lane four feet in width measured from the curb along the
east side of Palmer Drive extending from its intersection
with Nicklaus Avenue.
(b) A lane four feet in width measured from the curb along the
south side of Ritzman Lane extending from its intersection
with East and West Nicklaus Avenue.
(c) A lane four feet in width measured from the curb along the
East side of Trevino Drive.
(d) A lane four feet in width measured from the curb along the
East and North side of West Nicklaus Avenue and the West
and North Side of East Nicklaus Avenue.
SECTION III. USE. When signs and markings are in place giving
notice of the existence of any golf cart lane established by this
ordinance, it shall be unlawful for any person to operate a golf cart
along any portion of the roadway of a street so designated except
within the golf cart lane of the roadway.
SECTION IV. VEHICULAR TRAFFIC IN GOLF CART LANES. No person
shall drive a motor vehicle across a golf cart lane except after
giving the right-of-way to all golf carts operated within the lane.
No motor vehicle, motorized bicycle, motor -driven cycle, motor
scooter, or motorcycle may be operated on a golf cart lane.
SECTION V. This Ordinance shall take effect 30 days after final
passage by the City Council.
