RE: ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMITTEE
Dear Mayor:
Please let this letter serve as notice of my interest in the City of Kalispell and seat on the
Architectural Review Committee.
I am a licensed professional actively engaged in business in the downtown area as property
manager for the First & Main Building located directly across Main Street from the Kalispell
Grand Hotel, Books West is located on our first floor. I have extensive experience in
architecture, construction, property management, and real estate. I came to the valley in 1981
upon graduation from Montana State University. I then moved to Colorado in 1989 and returned
to our valley in the winter of 1996. While in Colorado I worked with and on planning boards
in Aspen, Breckenridge, Winter Park, Boulder, and Denver to mention a few. I intend on
making Kalispell my permanent home as my 8-year old son is enrolled in one of the Kalispell
schools.
I would very much desire the opportunity to sit and serve on your Architectural Review
Committee. Please contact me, if you so desire, at 752-6246 or the above address. Thank you
for this opportunity and your consideration.

Bear Mayor Kennedy,
I would ask you and the City Council to please. consider me for the position on the
Conrad Mansion Museum Board.
-" I live in the neighborhood of the Conrad Mansion, and have tremendous pride in
the building, the gardens, the history, and the philosophy of its preservation and use.
Shortly after moving into our home, many years ago, I stood out on the, sidewalk with my
children and watched a crane lift Alicia Conrad Campbell's pink trailer over the stone
Wall'— closing one chapter and beginning another.
In 1989, Mrs. Redfield asked me to be a tour guide, and I enjoyed three wonderful
years working there. Local history has been a hobby of mine, and at the Conrad Mansion
the rich history feels alive. I also love public speaking and dealing with groups of people.
Several times, during the off season', I gave presentations to the children at Elrod School
about the Conrad Mansion and the members of the Conrad family.
Even after leaving my employment there, to go on to full time work, I have still
taken groups through the home — summer visitors, Japanese students, Montana League. of
Cities & Towns visitors. A golden moment for me though, was when I brought an Italian
friend on a tour. I acknowledged that Italian history goes back hundreds,.if not thousands,
of years and the Conrad Mansion Museum history illustrates some of the developmems in
our nation, state, industry; and this valley in the last hundred years or so. He understood"
and said, `yes, that is your immediate history. How sad that in Italy, so much of the
recent history wasn't preserved because of the emphasis on the ancient and so much of
the last one hundred years has been lost. Here, at the Conrad Mansion Museum, you
have preserved the history of a dramatically changing time in your country and the
world." He crystallized the significance. — — -
I worked on the Kalispell Historical Survey, under the inspiration of Kathy
McKay, furthering my knowledge and love of local history.
I know, and am known by, the majority of the board members and the Mansion
Director, and have a great respect for their purpose, efforts, objectives and successes. I
feel that I would fit nicely on the board.
My husband and I owned Rauthe's Art `N Frame Shop for 23 years, so I also have
a keen appreciation of the business side of the Conrad Mansion Museum Board
`Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to the opportunity to serve my
community.
Sincerely,
