The Montana Association of Chief s of Police annually solicits nominations for "Officer of the Year" from police departments across the state. MACOP represents police executives from most major municipal police agencies in Montanan. The "Officer of the Year" candidates are selected based on the attitude they display toward the public and fellow employees, their appearance and respect for the uniform, their work ethic and community service. The selection committee specifically noted Officer Corbett's work in establishing a women's self-defense class. The course includes instruction in the use of pepper spray and provides prevention tips from domestic violence advocates on how to avoid dangerous situations. Dozens of women from high school students to grandmothers have received these valuable life-saving skills.
